Jewellery Care

Care instructions

Store your jewellery in an airtight container or a zip-lock bag to slow down tarnishing. You can also place anti-tarnish tabs (black square) in the container or bag.

Different body chemistries and humidity and chemical levels in your region can affect the rate of tarnishing.  Most metals will show wear and tear by wearing in the shower, or sweating (working out), exposure to perfumes, shampoos, soaps, oils will also tarnish metal faster. The rate of tarnishing will vary from person to person.

It is not recommended that you wear your piece in salt or chlorinated water, as the water may affect the integrity of your piece. Be sure to wipe down your jewellery to prevent accumulation of dirt and oils. If your jewellery does get wet, be sure to thoroughly dry it – as wet jewellery will also tarnish faster.

To maximise the life of your special piece of jewellery then please do not clean it with chemicals. It is important to remember that silver will tarnish over time. Silver is very soft, so always polish with a gentle touch. Polish with a sunshine cloth or a pro polish pad. If you have purchased aSterling Silver item with Raspberry Jelly that requires polishing, a rectangle pro polish will be provided with your product.  The cloth and pad will both turn a dark grey, but can be used over and over again. I have some pro-polish pads available to purchase as an extra with your piece.  Copper and Brass pieces will tarnish, as that is the nature of that type of metal, thus giving it a rustic look and feel.
